Physical Education Grant Information

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.

Funding will be allocated to all mainstream and state-funded schools with primary phase pupils from September 2013. Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach performance levels they are capable of.Schools must spend the funding on improving their provision of PE and sport.

At Worsley Mesnes we have allocated the funding with an aim to improving PE provision in our school and raising the participation and achievement for all our pupils in sport.

We took the exciting decision and appointed a Physical Education and Sports Leader, Mrs Hurst, who is employed by the school and works wholly at Worsley Mesnes Primary School. To finance this post we will use our P.E.Grant with a proportion of our Pupil Premium Grant and funding from the school staffing budget.

Below is how we spent the funding and the impact this had on the children and staff.
